I posted this on my facebook page this morning. We would appreciate your prayers.

May God encourage you as He is encouraging us!

They kicked in our door & ransacked our house.
While we were out serving the community they robbed us. While we were collecting bikes for "at risk" kids, giving the good news, & establishing a church where there wasn't one, they were rifling through our drawers breaking into locked cabinets & taking our valuables.

When our 3yr old & 1yr old should have been in bed dreaming about Christmas eve a...t Grammy's house they were wondering why someone had tossed their toys everywhere & why they needed to go to Grammy's without daddy. Why he needed to "secure" the front door & finish with the police before he & mommy could come too.

I'm angry! So angry!

But I know the gospel.
The gospel tells me that the few good things we were doing yesterday was not us but Christ in us. We certainly don't have something to feel self-righteous about.

The gospel tells me that Jesus died for the transgressions of those who kicked in our door just as he died for my sins, which are many.

The gospel teaches me that the Father loves me so much that he gave me his son, Jesus!

The gospel teaches me that Jesus was far more "wronged" then I could ever imagine. He was wronged for me & in a very real way he has been wronged by me.

The Spirit keeps bringing this passage to mind:

Isaiah 53:3-7

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

So I'm gonna chill.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still mad but I'm gonna chill.

I'm gonna follow Jesus!

As I write this line I'm praying for those who kicked in our door & stole our stuff.
I'm praying for their redemption.
I'm praying that they might personally experience God's love, mercy, & grace.
I'm thanking & praising God for indwelling me, for I know that the Holy Spirit is enabling me to pray this prayer.

Because he enables me; I'm gonna follow Jesus!
Jesus taught in Matthew 5:43-44

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

So thank you Father for that crazy night that is causing me to depend on you, to cry out to you, to press into you
-- to experience more of you this Christmas.

Thank you Father for protecting my girls & giving them peace to sleep.

You're a good God & we love you!
